Good Friday

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:5

As I was sitting by the ocean, just trying to gain some peace, mesmerized by my journey, and surprised by the fact that I actually made it to Hawaii by myself, I realized that I was missing something that I was longing for but didn’t know what it was. At the time I thought that just getting to the Hawaiian ocean would be enough to soothe my restless soul, but it wasn’t. It was God’s peace and love that gave me somewhat of a rest. I say somewhat not because God’s love and healing is not enough, but because God’s love can only truly be received by our knowledge of who He is. And I believe that can take a lifetime to figure out for most of us, at least for me. Still, what’s beautiful is not the fact that I went to Hawaii, Hawaii is beautiful, but anyone can go to Hawaii, what’s beautiful is God’s loving power and His rest that can only be met when we draw closer to Him. I didn’t know it at this time, but God was calling me to Himself. I wasn’t a Christian here, definitely far from a believer, but I was searching, and man oh man am I grateful that God spoke to me there in Hawaii, on the airplane back, and here at home. Today is Good Friday, and if anyone has seen or watched the Passion of the Christ, or knows what happened to Jesus today 2,000 years ago, well then you know that Jesus was crucified, for ALL of us, me too, for the world. And it’s by His death, and His life that we have the power to be healed. Isn’t that awesome? Hallelujah and Amen.

Have a blessed week.
