I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be trouble or afraid.
John 14:27
When I first became a believer I did not understand that God had the ability to grant you a peace that was so deep you literally could not understand. As a person who has struggled with anxiety and a lack of peace, peace felt (and sometimes still does) feel foreign to me. Peace… that word…according to dictionary.com it’s defined as “freedom from disturbance; tranquility” but when life experiences is quick to take away your peace, I think it’s hard to enjoy that peace or receive peace even as a believer. For me it’s been a constant running back to God, moments of silence, journaling, working through things, and asking for God’s help a lot that has given me peace. How amazing is it though that Jesus tells us not to be troubled or afraid.. so are we really embodying the gift of peace that Jesus leaves us? Or do we forget and allow ourselves drift into that place of worry and fear? Let’s embrace the gift of peace that God gives us today.
