Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

When I first started my healing journey my mind was a complete mess. I didn’t know what was true or what was a lie. I didn’t know that I had control over my emotions, or that my thoughts didn’t have to have so much control over me. I struggled though for years to learn and get to a place where I felt safe and stable within myself. Healing is a life long journey that isn’t meant to be done alone. Sometimes we think if we can just isolate ourselves we won’t hurt anyone and we won’t allow ourselves to be hurt. If we could only take the time to recognize God’s truth in His word about our thoughts. I’m sorry, not sorry, I hate the phrase “trust your intuition”. How can you trust your intuition when you’ve been through something traumatic? Or struggle with anxiety? Or your heart is full or rage or anger. Nah girl. You gotta heal. You have to take that time to work on your thoughts. To focus on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, praiseworthy. Everyday. Everyday. Filling yourself up with God’s truth and love. Stay connected to Jesus. Read your word. Say your prayers. Try your best to love others, and when you fail. Try again. Praying for your thoughts and your hearts to be healed. I have a habit of putting my hair up in a bun when I’m trying to focus, so tonight I challenge myself and you as well that as we put our “hair in a bun” and focus… let’s focus on those thoughts that Paul talks about. Let’s focus and receive that peace that God so much wants us to have.

God, I’m praying for everyone reading this, and I’m asking that you start working your pure thoughts onto them. Help us all rest in your presence starting with our minds. And heal us from everything that would hinder our growth and love for others.
