Everyday is a fresh start

Ocean City, Maryland August 2020

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22-23

So it’s officially 2021! Yay! A new year, feels like a fresh start for many of us, yet when you really think about it all that has change is a digit on the end of the calendar… I think it’s great to have new year resolutions because it helps to measure our own personal growth, but I also think it’s important to recognize the daily growth. Just because we entered this new year, doesn’t mean we’re automatically gonna be more fit, organized, loving, healthier, etc. We’re humans and we make mistakes. I remember this time last year I had this outrageous goal of wanting to lose 10 lbs in a month! And sadly, this is something that is extremely common among women. Trying to lose so much weight in a short amount of time pushed me into intuitive eating, and now I don’t care about losing weight, and I have a much healthier relationship with food and myself. My point with all this to say is that just because we have goals, God always has His plans for us. Another point I’d like to address to my “we’re humans we make mistakes” comment… well we’re humans we make mistakes and while we could reach all of our goals (and it would be amazing if we do!) It’s okay to change your goals. God’s love and mercies are new for us everyday, not just the new year. It’s okay to mess up. It’s okay if you want to follow Jesus, but you keep failing because of sin. God knows all that. Yet everyday He calls for us and wants us to go Him. This upcoming new year may be a hard one, or it may be a great one, but God is faithful every morning. So don’t give up even when you mess up. Never give up on yourself, your goals and dreams, change it if you have to, but most importantly never give up on trusting God with your life.

I love the beach and this morning it was really foggy, but still beautiful. As I could hear the waves in the background, it was hard to see the horizon and that’s how I feel about this year. Life is beautiful, and though we can’t see much beyond what is in front of us, you can always listen to God’s still and calming voice letting you know He’s got your back. Have a very blessed week and year ahead of you.
