Grateful for what is coming

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7
Peach Trees, July 2020

I remember this hot summer day. My boyfriend and I wanted to go picking some kind of fruit and we decided to go here to pick some peaches. It was the middle of summer and walking from the parking lot to the entrance of the field had us dripping in sweat. It was very uncomfortable to say the least. In the back of my mind I thought about how I just wanted us to leave and go jump into a lake somewhere, but somehow my boyfriend made it fun enough for us to stay (just a little longer..). We looked for some peaches and went home with a box of peaches! We didn’t eat much of the peaches… but it was an fun time for sure. Many times I feel like God is just like that hot summer day, it’s uncomfortable to be in the waiting season of your life. It feels like sweat is pouring down your back anticipating what’s to come. It’s so much easier to be grateful when what you want is right in front of you, but what about being grateful before God answers those prayers? I love how this scripture Paul is telling us to never be anxious. I don’t know about you, but I know that’s a hard feat for me to follow. Yet, those are our instructions, to never be anxious, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present our requests to God. So that means while we’re in those difficult hard to see the end of the tunnel times we must be grateful. While we’re under the heat of the hot summer sun, or the middle of the stormy winter, we must remain grateful for what’s to come. Whether we like the outcome or not is not the point, the point is that because we are giving it to God we can trust that however our prayer is answered is for the best. Paul goes on to say “And then the peace of God…will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus.” So whatever it is you’re worried about, if you give it to God, I can’t say that “you will experience so much peace and bam you’re cured” but maybe you’ll experience just a little peace, maybe that’s all you need. So whatever it is you’re worried about or stressed out about today pray for the best and live your life gratefully. That’s my prayer for you.

Have a blessed week.
