trust the process

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3: 5-6
DC nights, April 2021

As the sun is setting over the Potomac river, I feel a moment of ease and peace trusting God. Life, as most of us know, is not easy. Sometimes we can make great progress in certain areas of our lives just to fall back a step or two, or even three. I for one am someone who has definitely taken many steps back while continuing to pursue many steps forward. Unfortunately, I also have a tendency to be extremely hard on myself when I do fall back, but what if that’s the process that God needs to take me on? What if in order for God to fully heal my heart I have to mess up? I mean we can’t heal what we’re not aware of. There are times when I mess up I will doubt myself so much, yet with God, the fact that we’re even trying is good enough for Him. I’ve realized that when I doubt myself, I’m also doubting God, and not trusting the process that he’s taking me on. Instead of leaning on His understanding I’m leaning on my own understanding. Yet Proverbs 3:5-6 says that as we submit ourselves to Him, (which I believe is an everyday decision that takes consistent practice) then He will make our paths straight. So the Lord will make our paths straight as we fall down, get back up, feel doubt or get scared when facing a setback. He will make our paths straight as we submit ourselves to Him, maybe not perfectly… maybe a little shaky, but He will make our paths straight. So yeah maybe the process isn’t easy, a straight line, or a one day to another miracle. Maybe the process is one of mistakes, and learning from the mistakes… Maybe that process is actually really beautiful in it’s own hard, difficult, way… so wherever you in your life. If you’re working on healing yourself, or you’re praying for someone else, or whatever promise you’re waiting for God to fulfill in your life, trust the process. He’s got your back.

Have a blessed week.
