“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
Right now there is so much speculation going on about the Ukraine war it’s hard to get around it. The truth is that there are many things in this world that are just messed up. The Ukraine war is catching lots of attention on the news, but there is war all over the world is just as scary for everyone. Whether it’s in Haiti, Afghanistan, Venezuela, or Nicaragua, war is scary. I don’t know about you but when I see these things in the headlines I get worried and sometimes my way to cope it to either ignore it completely or dive deeply. Recently for me it’s been the latter. I found myself getting worried about what this war could mean to the United States if we get involved and my mind of course catastrophes to the worst possible outcome. That being said what can I do? Honestly…nothing. However one thing that I’ve learned throughout my life and since becoming a believer is that ultimately God is the one who is in control. He’s the one who is in control over Putin and over all the other wars and injustices this world is facing. My job is to pray, donate, and spread the word when I’m led to. The one scripture that I truly felt pressing on my heart about this war is “Be strong and courageous” in Joshua 1:9. In this chapter Joshua is about to enter the promise land and he is told to be strong and courageous despite the challenges he is about to face entering the promise land. Like Joshua, any time when we are facing dire situations we must remember who is in control of it all. We are not called to be afraid and worry. Although it’s tempting, trust me… we are called to be strong and courageous. I am inspired by the Ukrainian President who chooses to stay and fight despite the danger he faces. I am also inspired by many people around the world who also choose to fight for their own equality, justices, and peace. When we are in a position where we’re not being directly effected, but we are worried, let’s pray for the very best possible outcome. There is incredible strength in prayer. During these times is where we rise to be strong and to have courage trusting the Lord more than anything. So whether it’s for the war or any other situation or injustices you feel pressing in your heart, let’s pray, trust God and do what we can to support. God is with us. God bless you.
Have a blessed week.
