Relationship with God

It’s an Everyday Thing

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’  And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Matthew 7:21-23
Just contemplating life at my favorite place

Isn’t it scary to think about the possibility of not being saved? Now that I’m 5 years into my faith I’ve realized that having a relationship with the creator of the Universe is an everyday thing. We shouldn’t be content with just going to church and listening to other people’s interpretations of the bible. We should be diving deeper into the Bible and our relationship with God to learn more about who He is. It’s important that we are in the word daily and have an active prayer life.

I’m the first one to admit, I have issues. I get moody, I get angry, I can be resentful, I can be unreasonable.. I need Jesus daily, hourly, minutely. We all do. We need help with every aspect of our lives to make sure that we’re truly living like Him.

Are we really an example? And when I say “example” I’m not only talking about the obvious sins like having sex out of marriage, drinking to get drunk, or doing drugs, I’m talking about those other sins that people kind of slip under the rug but be very harmful to our walk with God as well. Like gossiping, being jealous of others, or being so selfish where you can only think about what benefits yourself. These things also do not represent Jesus. In Matthew 7:23, Jesus says “I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.” You might have heard this scripture on TikTok, where a girl is talking about this scripture as one of the scariest scriptures in the Bible, and I do agree with her. I pray everyday for my own salvation and for the salvation of others on a daily basis. However only God is the one that has the final say in the end, but the way we choose to live is evidence of which world we’re coming from when Jesus says “I never knew you.”

So let’s work on our relationship with God by praying daily, reading the bible, playing some worship music, and connecting with other believers. I pray that you crave His presence over your life. I know you will feel so much more peace and contentment after you do. Like I said, don’t be so hard on yourself if you can only read the Bible 5 mins a day, start somewhere! God can work with something. I’m praying for your salvation. Remember God Himself is the blessing, yes He can bless us with many awesome things in this world, but to know Him and to know we have an eternal life after this, is the blessing. Thanks for reading or listening. Have a blessed week ahead of you. Just remember our relationship with God is a daily thing.
