Always has a plan

They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord . Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.

Psalms 112:7-8

Whether it’s in your life or in the world, don’t you ever feel like there is always something going on? I have to delete my social media app off my phone once in a while because I feel like every time I get on social media or watch the news, I always see something negative happening in the world. From local shootings, fires, and robberies, to the heart wrenching earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, it seems like the world just can’t catch a break. I don’t know about you, but I can get overwhelmed with feeling helplessness in not knowing what to do. I know I can’t stop those shootings, fires, or earthquakes. I can only hear about it on the news and maybe send out money to donate. Yet we are not called to do things that we can’t do. What I mean by this is that I believe that God has a specific purpose and plan for each and everyone of us and all we can do is our best today.

Days when I feel especially overwhelmed I know I have to remember who is in control of it all. This scripture in the book of Psalms by King David, David is praising God within his own situation and he is saying that those who trust in the Lord, “will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” I know sometimes I struggle with trusting God. Although I know I should and I’m suppose too, I’m only human. It’s hard to trust God when you see so much suffering in the world, or when you’re scrolling through social media and (at least for me) all I see is how this world is just getting darker everyday. Yet the scripture continues by saying “their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.” I love the part where he says “their hearts are secure.” There is nothing secure about a fearful or anxious heart. Yet as a believer I must admit that I do experience that anxiety way too often. Whether it’s something that I’m still healing on, or just because of the simple fact that my social media feed bombards me with the harsh realities of this world, as a human I believe it’s something we all go through. Yet as a believer, I am called to trust God and to have my security place on the simple fact that He has a plan. I know that God isn’t suppose to make our lives easier, however He does helps us be stronger while we face trials and tribulations. As the world gets darker and darker, our faith shines lighter and lighter and the more we trust God and love others the more we can actually shine that faith onto others. It’s not an easy thing to do, but it is something that we can do.

Going back to the beginning of this verse I want to reiterate the part where King David says, “they will have no fear of bad news” no fear of bad news.. tough huh? Yet, I can’t help, but to feel a sense of peace knowing that God does have our back. Through prayer and trusting Him we can rest knowing that even though our lives may not be easy, we are never alone.

I pray that your heart will be secure and rest on the fact that as a human we may experience anxiety, but as a believer we can rest on the steadfast hope that God always has a plan.

God bless you, have a blessed week ahead of you.
