Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Being grateful is not always easy as it seems. When you’re tired, stressed, or worried for whatever reason, being grateful isn’t always the first thing on the “to-do list.” Personally when I’m moody, or depressed the last thing I feel is grateful. Yet, God calls us to be grateful at all times. Not sometimes, not when feel like it, but all times… I love how in Philippians 4:19 Apostle Paul tells us through his challenging times that God will supply all his needs, and like Apostle Paul,God will also supplies all our needs… if we could only just focus on being grateful for what we already have. Now take a moment to look around you. I’m sure at this moment you could at least see or think about three things to be grateful for. And if you’re having a bad day, maybe think of 3 more things. When you notice what you have to be grateful for, focus on that, meditate on it and realize how lucky and blessed you truly are. If you’re having a stressful day, take a moment to breathe and thank God for those 3, or even better, 6 things that you’re grateful for and ask God to give you strength to deal with whatever is stressing you out and for His peace that He is already working it out in your favor. There really is no use in stressing over what we can’t control, and when we stress over things that are actually stressful it tends to cloud our minds to the solution that might be right in front of us. Sometimes that is so much easier said than done, so we have to actually pursue and take action to be grateful. That’s why focusing on what we’re grateful for and creating those gratitude lists is so important to our wellbeing and happiness. So what are you grateful for today? Are you grateful for your friends? Family? Job? All of the above? None? To be alive? To have clean water? Make that list. Jot it down and meditate on it. Because you are blessed.
Here’s what I’m grateful for today:
- My loving and supportive boyfriend
- My loving and supportive family
- An income
- My working car
- Clean water
- Being able to see and hear
The list can go on if we choose to…
Have a blessed week 🙂
