Why fear?

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Isaiah 41:13 NIV

I remember when I first became a Christian this was my fall back scripture. This scripture was what God used to speak to me whenever I had doubt and fears about the future. Since then I have seen God refining and changing the course of my life and allowing my faith to grow more and more. This doesn’t mean that I don’t have fear, but it means that my greatest potential relies on my willingness to allow God to move and help me. Easier said than done. But how many times have we held back from the call of God? Or an opportunity, or anything? Because of fear or anxiety, and how can we trust that God is leading us into a place where His name is the most glorified? Will we learn to surrender and not lean on our own understanding? Or will we hold back? Because of fear. Because we don’t trust God enough?

Fear- false, evidence, appearing, real. Can wreak havoc into our lives if we allow it, or we can ignore it and choose to focus on the Lord who holds us by our right hand and tells us that he more powerful, sovereign, and stronger, than anything coming against us. And that isn’t just nice words that I’m typing together, but that is who God is, and I believe that’s faith.

Dear God,

I pray for everyone reading this. That you will speak to them specifically about what you’re calling them to do, and I pray that they will allow you to help them into their calling and purpose that you have for each and everyone one of them.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
