And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9 KJV

The day that I took this picture, it was about 23 degrees and I was freezing cold. Even though I was born in the states, my parents are both from Nicaragua, so naturally I love the warm weather. Bitter coldness stresses me out. Yet, this day was a beautiful day spent with my sister and my nephew (her dog) and it wouldn’t be so great without the warmth of a cozy apartment after this picture was taken. What I love about the weather in this part of the world is that it can be pretty cold and sunny at the same time. The warmth of the sun makes the cold enduring. For me this reminds me how in life many times we will be enduring some hardship that can pull us towards depression, anxiety, or any other type of heart ache we might face.
Maybe it is redundant, but would life be worth anything without the bad? I’ve come pretty far in my life from my early 20s in terms of my mental health. However, it was the darkest nights and the most painful memories, and even now as I endure my own personal struggles I can rest on the fact that I can’t control people. I can’t control God’s plan for my life, I can only control myself and I how I look at the situation. If I were to take away all the bad things that have ever happened in my life, I’m not sure if I could appreciate all the special little moments. Like this cold winter day with my sister and her dog. Knowing that we would have a warm place to sleep and food to eat. The little things.
Yes, there are people who will not appreciate the goodness that God calls us to. There are people that will probably take advantage of the goodness that someone who follows Christ will want to show in their lives. There are people who aren’t that great that the enemy uses against God’s will for our lives. Yet, in the scripture above Paul is telling us that even though things may look rough and people lie, cheat, or take advantage of your goodness, there is still a harvest waiting if you continue to pursue goodness in your life.
Although there are many reasons that people (mostly speaking for myself) may hold grudges or resentment, we are always called to love and forgive. Is it easy? Absolutely not. Is it doable? With God nothing is impossible, so yes it is. When we’re in this place of darkness we must remember that we’re called to love and forgive. God is our greatest protector and we can trust that as we’re doing good, He is going to do what He needs to do for His children. So I can trust that God is going to pull me through the bad. Although praying out of it is the most instinctive action we can take, God uses the negative in our lives to shape our character. Like I’ve mentioned before God is not concerned about the external, he’s concerned with our heart. So through the ugly and the bad, you can trust the Lord has something waiting for you. Let’s appreciate the struggle and take it for what it is. A learning experience that shapes our character for the better. Let’s not give up in doing good so we can see God’s faithfulness in the end.
God bless you brother or sister in Christ.
Have a blessed week.
