Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
1 John 4:18
So as we all learning and growing more about God’s love for us, many times we have to face the reality of fear. Yet, in the bible, I’ve heard so many times by different sources, (and well when you just read the bible itself) God tells us to not be afraid. Why then would we allow fear into our minds? Our thoughts? Our brains? Hmm.. I know for myself, there were many things, and sometimes still are many things that bring me anxiety. Like not sure if I could trust saying yes to an opportunity. Or not sure if I could trust a friend or a person etc. etc. Questioning and doubting is not how God intended us to be. I love this part in scripture where it says that if we are afraid for fear of punishment, which essentially is the reason why I believe I get afraid sometimes, then that means we have not fully experienced his perfect love. Perfect love? What would that experience feel like? When I ask that question I just imagine there to be a subtle peace and surrender in our everyday lives. I’m definitely not fully there yet, but I am learning more about God’s perfect love for us and for that I am grateful.
Have a blessed week.
